Connecting with the students January 16, 2010

The 2010 BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition is coming to an end. The awards were announced yesterday (see @ibmirelandevent and @BTYSTE for latest updates) and the exhibition is closing today. What an experience it’s been. The energy in the RDS was incredible.

When we embarked on this project and confirmed our participation in the event, we didn’t know what to expect. One thing we hoped, though, was to be able to connect with as many students as possible. We hoped to share our Smarter Planet message with the scientists of tomorrow, let them know how IBM uses technology to help improve energy, traffic, water management, etc. We also wanted to listen to their input and their ideas, understand what matters to them and see if, through technology, we can address their concerns about the future of our planet. I think we have achieved our goal: watch our video and let us know what you think 🙂

Really loved the day! met good few students, was also able to walk around to look at all different projects, had some very interesting discussions around smarter planet ideas & heard some very good ideas re: how we could each of us “help our world” for a bright(er), clean(er), smart(er) future.. I am most definitely coming back next year!! 😉
